Teaching

Dr. Martell is a seasoned educator with over 10 years of classroom teaching experience and more than 20 years working with students in support of learning. Her love of teaching began in 8th grade, when she was given the task to teach the parts of the cell to her biology class. She was hooked.

With her beginning as a high school science teacher, Dr. Martell’s approach to instruction is hands-on and hypothesis driven. No science class should ever be boring, and no student should ever think they are incapable of “doing science”. Her mantra has always been “Everyone is a scientist.” See the courses she’s taught and the curricula she’s developed below.

She pursued her own graduate education to bring her love of teaching to the collegiate level. Most recently, she has taken her passion for learning and teaching to train and mentor undergraduate and graduate students to perform high quality research. View her proud mentoring experience here.
